Like it is with many other online casino games, 3 Card Poker has a slight house edge and if you want to refine your playing skills and lower that edge, there are a few things that you’ll need to know.
The first thing you need to know about 3 Card Poker is that the hand values differ slightly from other poker games such as Texas Hold Em. In Texas Hold Em, for example, you will need to make the best possible hand of the 7 available. However, in 3 Card Poker, you will have to make the best possible hand from the 3 cards that are dealt to you. It also means that hands such as a straight or flush, only have three cards. The hand values in 3 Card Poker are as follows:
— High Card
— 3 of a Kind
— Straight Flush
Unlike other poker games, where 3 of a kind is ranked just after a pair whereas in 3 Card Poker, 3 of a kind is the third highest hand you can have. One of the easiest strategies for 3 Card Poker is knowing the different hand values. The more you know, the easier it’ll be to decide when to bet or fold.
You will also need to know the different bets to make. When the game starts you can make an ante bet and a pair plus bet which is made if you think you’ll be dealt a pair or better. Once the cards have been dealt, you can then decide to fold or play and if you do decide to play, you’ll need to make a play bet. Another simple strategy is choosing to play without making the pair plus bet as the odds of winning this bet are fairly slim. If, however, you’re feeling lucky or have read the game accordingly, you can make the bet, as the payout is significantly bigger than the average ante bet.
The final simple strategy we can offer considers knowing when to fold and when to bet. If you are dealt anything less than a Queen high, with nothing lower than a 4, you should probably fold as the odds are usually in favor of the house and it’ll cost more to carry on playing than it would to simply fold and play the next hand.
These are the simplest 3 Card Poker Strategies there are but, as it usually is with any and all casino games, you never know what can happen. The best way to get better at playing is, and always will be, to practice.
